Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! #150years
Happy Saturday! ❤️xo
The holidays are right around the corner and no matter how you choose to celebrate, chances are you’ll be giving out your fair share of gifts. Of course, with less than two weeks to the big day you probably should have already done your shopping but just in case you didn’t, I’ve got you covered. The following is a guide of the best footwear you can get for your friends and family.
If you got down with Drake’s “Hotline Bling” this holiday season and were one of the hundreds of millions of people who watched the music video, you might have noticed that Champagne Papi’s shoe game. He was rocking the throwback Timberland boot that dominated hip-hop in the late ’90s and early ’00s. The Tims are great because a fresh pair looks awesome and if you keep them nice and clean, they’ll look good for years. If they should get a little busted, though, they just become a really durable pair of work boots. Tims are perfect for both guys and girls and even dad would be hard-pressed to complain about finding a pair of these bad boys under the tree.
And it’s not just boots that are the big thing for the season. Plenty of stylish folks live in warmer climates where it’s not always practical to go rolling around in a huge pair of boots. The simple and classic low-top sneaker is a low-maintenance and good-looking way to rock some style with your kicks while staying comfortable. There are so many great options that you can roll with. There’s the longtime favorite Air Force 1 low-top (or “low-force” as they’re commonly called) or you can pull some inspiration from this list of fashionable footwear that includes big-name designers like Givenchy and Philippe Model. Depending on the person you’re shopping for, you could consider getting a couple pairs, one light and one dark, so they can easily be matched to his or her wardrobe.
They never really went out of style, but this year the classic L.L. Bean boot is back in a big way. The Bean Boot (or duck boot as it’s also affectionately known) was introduced in 1911 and has been a staple shoe for outdoorsy types for well over 100 years. Now, the beloved Bean Boot is the hot item for the holiday season and has been selling out everywhere. Best of luck finding a pair if you haven’t ordered them already, because there’s a major shortage that’s going to leave a lot of disappointed people on Christmas morning. If you order now, you might get your pair of the hand-crafted boots by summer, otherwise you’re probably out of luck.
These are just a few of the hottest items for the holiday season but we assure you that just about anyone would go wild to unwrap any of these. Good luck with your last minute gift-hunting and remember: it’s the thought that counts.
Happy Wednesday! ❤️xo
Who said lace is best worn as an undergarment?
Lace lingerie can be very sexy but there are other ways to wear lace that can/will exude sexiness when paired with the right pieces.
The perfect lace dress, skirt or shirt can make all the difference in creating a chic and polished look. Still hesitant!? See for yourself…
The lace dress
I’m looking forward to wearing my new navy midi lace skirt that my BFF gifted me from her London trip. Thank you Chichi! 💋
How would you wear lace? 😉
It really saddens me to hear that the Montreal-based company, Jacob Inc, has filed for bankruptcy and will be closing all stores across Canada after 35 years. In the next few weeks, they will be liquidating inventory at the remaining 92 stores.
This news hits home on a very personal level. Jacob is where it started for me and my career. Words cannot even express what this women’s clothing retailer instilled in me. The values, the techniques, the business…I can say that I am rich in experience and knowledge after 7 dedicated years. I will never forget the wonderful memories created with such a loving team and family. I would not be the person I am today without Jacob Inc. and it will be a part of my life always. I’m forever grateful!
Here are some looks from their lookbook.
President and founder, Joey Basmaji, in a statement:
“Although we did not achieve the desired result, I am proud of the passion and dedication that the Jacob team showcased over these past few years while trying to bring the company back to financial health,”
“I would like to sincerely thank each employee and business partner that contributed to our success during these 35 wonderful years. I hope that the remaining Canadian retailers will get through these difficult economic times.”
What are your thoughts?
What better way to accessorize than with a scarf, especially in this cold weather. The blanket scarf is a must this winter. They can add texture, color, and they keep you warm.
I personally love the tartan plaid blanket scarf from Zara in beige (pic below) and also in black (pic below). Although it is no longer available, you can find a similar one from Madewell at SHOPBOB here or a striped version from Topshop here or a bold plum and grey tartan blanket scarf from TheProvidenceStory on Etsy here.
