March is here (a tad late but hey)!!!…which means Spring is near!!! (Don’t forget to Spring Forward this weekend…YAY to longer brighter days but NAY to losing an hour sleep…lol).
Lots to look forward to this month. For you Divergent fans, the second part of the trilogy, Insurgent, will hit theatres March 20th. Who else is excited to see Tris (Shailene Woodly) and Four (Theo James) on the big screen again?
Lots going on in vogue world with Fashion Week scheduled in a city near you. In Toronto, World MasterCard Fashion Week will showcase some Fall 2015 Canadian Collections the week of March 23-27 at David Pecaut Square featuring designers such as Kania (Stacey Bafi Yeboa is one of my faves and she is an amazing woman too), Tatsuaki, Mackage and Rudsak.
Also in fashion, there are many fabulous Spring covers out this month that are certainly worth checking out. One of my favourite actresses, Tracee Ellis Ross covers Essence. Another favourite, Kerry Washington covers In Style and Taraji P. Henson graces the cover of Uptown. Gwen Stefani covers Canada’s No.1 Fashion & Beauty magazine – Fashion and Lupita Nyong’o covers Lucky mag.
I’m looking forward to a month filled with good reads, great fashion and amazing collections.
What are your plans this month?
Happy Friday! ❤️️️️️️️️xo
November’s here already! Although this means that it’s almost hibernation time for me (since I am allergic to cold weather), there are still some great things happening this month that will
force get me out of the house…
1- Beyond The Lights (premieres November 14th). This film is about a music superstar, Noni (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who struggles with the pressures of fame and success to the point where she contemplates suicide…I’m hoping this movie can shed some light on this issue and help those with suicidal thoughts to speak up and reach out.
2- Mocking jay – Part 1 (premieres November 21st). If you’re a Hunger Games fan like me then you have been anxiously awaiting the last (well part 1 of 2) of this trilogy. Can’t wait! “May the odds be ever in your favour.”
I’m loving the November covers this year…
1- Zoe Saldana, soon to be mom of twins, graces the cover of Elle (US) and looks amazing while doing so.
2- I am loving Anne Hathaway‘s lip colour choice on the cover of Elle (UK). That dark lip is perfect for Fall.
3- Gugu Mbatha-Raw covers Elle magazine’s Women In Hollywood issue and she is simply flawless with her bold lip and hair slicked back. Love the ring and ear jewelry too!
4- Adriana Lima covers VOGUE PARIS this month in this gorgeous bejewelled headpiece. I’m loving the smokey-all-over-face makeup too. It really makes her eyes pop!
5- You know I love me some Queen Latifah. She’s covering this month’s Essence issue and looks fearless in this gorgeous dress.
1- Catch Usher on his UR Experience tour featuring August Alsina. This is sure to be an entertaining ‘experience’ filled with hot choreography and great vocals. I would love to see another one of his shows, he does not disappoint.
2- Stevie Wonder is also headlining his Songs in the Key of Life Performance Tour across North America this month. I’m sure this will be an amazing show as well. He is a legend!
Also, don’t forget to turn your clocks back this Sunday. It’s almost time for us to Fall Back! (I love having the opportunity to sleep an extra hour!)
Last but not least, let us remember and honour our heroes on 11.11.14 “Remembrance Day”. Lest we forget!
Is it me or has August come and gone too fast?! Yup! September is already here! Happy labour day everyone! I hope you are enjoying this ‘last’ long weekend of the summer. 😳
Thankfully, there are plenty of things to be excited for this month like…the return of SCANDAL!!! Mark your calendars! September 25th will be the premiere of “Shonda Thursday” with 3 of the TV producer’s dramas including the addictive Scandal at 9 p.m. followed by the series premiere of How To Get Away With Murder at 10 p.m. (which I previously spoke about here).
I’m also looking forward to this new comedy featuring Anthony Anderson & Tracee Ellis Ross (love her!) which is about a family man who sets out to gain a sense of cultural identity for his kids that honours the past while embracing the future. “Black*ish” will premiere on Wednesday September 24th on ABC at 9:30 p.m.
I have to say that September is my fave month in fashion! Not only because I love FALL fashion (with the boots, the long sweaters and the colours) but also because I look forward to the huge fashion magazine issues (September issues equals more pages!). The 2014 September issue of Vogue (U.S.) has 856 pages of spectacular fall fashion (yay!) featuring the Instagirls: Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and more.
1- No Good Deed featuring Idris Elba & Taraji P. Henson premieres September 12th. This movie is about a devoted wife and mother whose life is threatened when a charming stranger who, after claiming to have car trouble, finds his way into her house. Yikes!
2- The Equalizer featuring Denzel Washington & Chloë Grace Moretz premieres September 26th. This action-thriller is about a former black ops commando who comes out of retirement (after faking his own death) to rescue a young girl and must face Russian gangsters.
Will you be watching? What are some of your September ‘bucket list’ items?
This month, let’s…
▫️enjoy BBQ season & lots of yummy summer drinks,
▫️celebrate Canada Day,
▫️get excited for the FIFA Finals,
▫️attend a few concerts & festivals (Bluesfest, Jazz Fest, Justin Timberlake JT2020 Tour, Bruno Mars Moonshine Jungle Tour, Essence Music Festival just to name a few…)
▫️watch the hilarious “Think Like A Man Too” movie…it’s a must-see for some good laughs (go pick up this months’s Essence magazine featuring the all-star cast).
Happy July! Happy Tuesday! Happy Canada Day!
