Think Thursday: Trust Love One More Time!

Maya Angelou knew what she was talking about when she said:

Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.

This quote is a great reminder that we must trust love again and again. You may have dealt with past hurts or broken trust that caused you to put your walls (all the way) up out of fear that you will get hurt again. But by doing so, you are denying yourself a chance at love which is the essence of life. It’s all about betting on yourself and taking risks…so why not work towards trusting again. When you begin to trust, you can begin to love and be loved. Trust makes love possible. Trust love one more time!

Happy Thursday!

Talk Tuesday: Thank You Ruby for Showing the Way!

I wanted to kick off Black History Month with a powerful quote from Ruby Bridges, the first African American child to desegregate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans on November 14, 1960. Six-year-old Ruby persisted in attending William Frantz Elementary School by marching alongside a team of U.S. Marshals amidst the hatred, threats and daily harassment. She may not have known then nor would she come to realize it for many years but her bravery and courage that she demonstrated in the fall of 1960 would forever change lives and shape a nation.

Don’t follow the path. Go where there is no path and start a trail. -Ruby Bridges

Thank you Ruby for your inspiring strength, resilience and fateful walk to school!

Happy Tuesday!

Talk Tuesday: Have The Courage To Ask!

I love this quote by Oprah and I completely agree with it. How do we expect to get anything in life if we are too afraid to go after our heart’s desires, if we are not willing to work for it or if we don’t have the courage to ask for it!?

We must not be afraid to ask? When we ask, we receive. It doesn’t mean that the ‘receiving’ will happen right away but whatever the request, it will be given in due time.

Keep pushing through the “no’s” because it will get you to your one “yes” (which is all you need).

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬ NIV)

Happy Tuesday!

Talk Tuesday: Set Yourself Free!

What is it that you’re afraid of and why?

FEAR can be described as an emotion caused by a threat perceived, which can cause a change in behaviour (like running away, hiding or freezing from traumatic events). FEAR can also be described as False Evidence Appearing Real. Which description best suits your understanding of fear?

When you realize that fear is only a perceived risk that truly isn’t a danger to you at all, you will learn to replace your fears with faith.

When induced by fear…instead of running away, stand still and face your fears. Instead of hiding, make yourself visible and confront your fears. Instead of freezing or looking stunned, remain calm and deal with your fears. Turn your fears into action and overcome them. It may be the very thing needed to set you free. Set yourself free today!

Happy Tuesday!

Talk Tuesday: Beauty From Within!

(Image via Essence)

In honour of the late artivist (artist and activist), here is a quote from our beloved Ruby Dee who will always be remembered for her humanitarian work and her seven-decade career as an American actress.

The kind of beauty I want most is the hard-to-get kind that comes from within — strength, courage, dignity.
-Ruby Dee

Ruby Dee was also a poet, playwright, screenwriter and journalist who used her gifts well to champion Human Rights.
Her strength, courage and beauty will be missed.
