Street Style: The Shirt Dress!

The shirt dress is an unexpectedly sexy item that is often overlooked. Not sure why though?! It’s a stand alone piece that…well…stands out (if styled correctly of course). The best part is that you most likely already own this item in your closet. Just look for an oversized blouse or simply borrow from his closet. His shirt can be your perfect shirt dress. It may even look better on you! Lol. Rock it different ways from an undoubtedly sexy look to a more casual one. Looking for ideas?! Here are some inspirational boards featuring the shirt dress.

I’m loving the maxi length shirt dress in white. I think I need that in my closet. It’s so moi   Will you be rocking the shirt dress this season?

Happy Friday! Have a lovely weekend! ❤️xo

Street Style: Florals!

It’s flower season again so it’s time to bring out your floral fashion. Yup that’s right…Floral is back for Spring and it’s time for you to blossom. What better way to do just that and to express your softer but fun, fresh and flirty side than with floral prints. Need some inspiration?! Here are a few of my fave looks featuring florals.           Will you be rocking florals this season?

H&M Conscious Closet VIP Launch Party!

Earlier this week, I had the honour to attend the H&M Conscious Closet VIP Launch Party at Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa, joining Elle Canada for the first look at the 2015 H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection. I had such a memorable time among the city’s fashion icons. Add some cocktails, great music, delicious hors d’oeuvres and amazing fashion to the mix and you’ve got an evening you will never forget! Here are some of my precious moments captured on camera. The models were perfect mannequins on display showcasing items from the 2015 H&M Conscious Exclusive CollectionThese must-have “master”pieces will be available at an H&M location near you next Thursday, April 16, 2015. Make sure you check it out! Fashion Features Editor, Lisa Guimond (who is amazing by the way), shared her favourite Spring Picks from culottes to maxi dresses to plunging necklines to zen master to sporty. Rogers TV Host of “Entre nous”, Barbara Laurenstin, Fashion designer, Gwen Madiba along with King Hector, who will be launching his first clothing line/collection “We Are Kings” this Fall, graced us with their presence with such style and elegance (King Hector rocked his own line). Fashion model Herieth Paul looked flawless as usual and was such a joy to meet. Love her! Marc Brigden, photographer extraordinaire, Marc Brigden Photography, captured all of the best moments of the night (so every moment) and I’m happy to call him friend.   (All images via Star In Moi)

A BIG thank you to Elle Canada, H&M and Bayshore Shopping Centre for having me and for the fun swag bag (Go pick up the May 2015 issue of Elle Canada magazine. It’s a great one!). A BIG shout out to my new fashion fam. I look forward to seeing you all at future events and a special thanks to Mona and Lisa Guimond. 💋

A Culture Chic Affair!

I was happy to attend the RSVP Presents A Culture Chic Affair this past weekend and I had such a fabulous time meeting some amazingly talented people from artists to fashion designers to makeup artists to entrepreneurs. It was such an enriching experience filled with Afro-Caribbean culture, live entertainment, creative artisans and designers. In fact, there were so many great moments (that I was able to capture on camera), it’s only right that I share them with you. Experience a Culture Chic Affair through my eyes and camera lens. Enjoy!

Jana & Emilia Fashion Design Tufafi Fashion  Sidow Designs AMM Line Productions  Custom made bead designs from Beads Eleganza. Curly Hair Design products for the “curls of the world”. Veronica looked lovely with her ready to wear, ready to shine Kuwala design. Love it! Tanyta Boldon’s apron design from Aquilla Design Company worn by a fashionista. Antonia Bejide, makeup artist, looked flawless with her piercing eyes and beautiful glow (follow her YouTube channel @Toni3luv). Sarah A. Onyango (Rogers Television host, CHUO 89.1FM Radio host & producer) hosted the event with such grace. Nancita Kapi sang her heart out and strutted the catwalk for AMM Line Productions. The lovely Divine (I love her name!), Event Specialist, RSVP Events Canada, along with her team really worked their magic to ensure an elegant and flawlessly executed event. Tribal Threat entertained the crowd with great music. Cheryl Sandiford, Certified reflexologist, Sabrah’s Reflexology, restored my balance & harmony through my soles and I must say her hands are pure bliss. Wonderful artwork display. I’m loving: Sincerely Jules’ tees!

I previously blogged about Julie Sariñana’s screen print “Célfie” tee here. Well, the founder of Sincerely Jules designed many other fun & quirky tees emblazoned with inspiring mottos and images that I’m sure you’ll love.

Most of these tees are unisex and feature a more open neckline and a looser fitting body for extra comfort.

I also love these cute totes (conscious alternative to plastic bags) and these perfectly dainty hand made rings.

Yay or Nay for Overalls?

Wayyy back in the day, overalls were worn as a protective overgarment in a work environment. It wasn’t until the ’60s that both sexes started rocking them in a more fashionable way, not only in denim but in different colors, patterns and with loose or unfastened straps.

This fashion trend peaked in the ’70s, and again in the late ’90s. That was when I included a pair into my wardrobe. I loved wearing them with crop tops (Aaliyah style) and sneakers…It always use to make me feel brand new. LOL

Although overalls have been creeping up the fashion market since last year, I’m still not sure if I will re-introduce them in my life but looking at these fashionistas strutting their “all-over” overalls makes me think twice…

So…What do you think? Are overalls a yay or nay for Spring 2014?

Happy Wednesday!
