Ottawa’s Taco-Fest 2015!

Privé is hosting its 2nd annual Taco-Fest in Ottawa, Ontario on Saturday, August 8th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (EDT) at the Shaw Centre (55 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, K1N 9J2). This is where the City’s best taco makers come together to showcase their culinary spins on fan’s fave foods.

This is a 19+/cash only event so you’ll have to leave the kiddos at home and be prepared to show ID. You need a night out anyway, right?! 😉

Get your advance tickets here for only $10.00 ($11.59 including fee) or at the door for $15.00 (starting at 7pm). This will cover your entry only…thankfully all food is affordable and priced between $2-$5. It also goes to support local businesses (which I love!). Here are a few that will be there…

Blue Cactus Bar & Grill

Art-is-in Bakery will be serving their famous Tequila Donuts (not Kronuts as pictured below)

Rico Peru Food Truck

Nacho Cartel

Ola Cocina (vegetarian no vegan options available and all gluten free)

Angry Dragonz

Petit Peru

Food. Music. Ambiance. Sounds like a fun night to me! You don’t want to miss this event…especially if you’re a foodie (like moi!).

A special thank you to Mila And Privé for the invitation. Looking forward to getting my grub on. See you there!

Hello June!

Heyyy June! I’m so ready for summer. Aren’t you?! This season means the start of BBQs, Popsicles, beaches, cool breeze, flip flops, sunnies, bathing suits and cold drinks. Who else wouldn’t be excited for all of that?! Lol. And of course, we get to celebrate our fathers (those who are, those who were, those who will be and those who took on that special role).

Happy June! ❤️xo

RSVP presents A Culture Chic Affair – April 4, 2015! *TICKET GIVEWAY*

Will you be in the Nation’s Capital on Easter Long Weekend? If so, make sure to attend the RSVP presents A Culture Chic Affair on April 4, 2015 at 6pmDelta Ottawa City Centre, 101 Lyon St, Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). This is an event you don’t want to miss so mark your calendars!!!

Culture Chic Affair was designed to promote local businesses in Ottawa, Ontario that cater to African, Caribbean and other major cultures that exist in Canada while also supporting charities to help make the community a better place. This event will be promoted through food, music, fashion and art. It will help support and establish new and existing companies by providing them with the recognition that they deserve.

What to expect:

I had the wonderful opportunity to interview RSVP Events Canada about this upcoming event, inspirations and future projects. Check it out below…

More about this event:
RSVP: This elegant, upscale event will feature 5 to 6 exclusive designers from Ontario. Just to name a few designers lined up, we have Jena & Emilia FashionWidlyne Rose and AMM Line Productions
What inspired you to host such an affair?
RSVP: I* am in the events industry and deal with clients from all sorts of different cultures. Most of these clients want to incorporate culture touches to their events. With no one to really cater to them, it was hard to make this happen. We are constantly digging deep to find local vendors to cater to them. Hence why we decided to create the event to promote and showcase the vendors that I* eventually found out that they actually existed, but did not have the support and recognition.
Why is it important for Canada to host events such as this and for everyone to come out?
RSVP: I* think Canada lacks support in the Culture side of things especially in the Afro/Caribbean area. We have a lot of amazing companies in Ottawa/Ontario and within Canada that are basically unknown. This event will hopefully get them on the map and on the road to success. We urge everyone in the community to come out and support them.
Can you tell me more about RSVP Events Canada, your role and how you got involved?
RSVP: I* Co own RSVP Events. RSVP Events is Ottawa’s top “one of a kind” certified wedding, corporate and specialty event planning firm. We specialize in creating unique and creative events starting with your vision, expectations and style. Like most event planning companies we stand by our professionalism and attention to detail. Our mission is to alleviate as much stress as possible while designing and developing lasting memories and catering to our clients’ needs so that they can actually enjoy the event. I* created this event with my lovely team (a dream team of 10 amazing girls) and we are excited to see it come to life.
What other events can we expect from RSVP Events Canada?

Fantasy Wish List!

IMG_4178.JPG
Everyone has a “Fantasy Wish List” (things that you don’t need but uber want) and I thought it would be fun to share mine (a girl can dream right?!). Plus you never know, Santa might have me on his good list this year.
My FWL consists of…
▫️Of course, shoes! I’m absolutely loving these laminated high heel court shoes in gold and silver from Zara. They are a must-have in my books and under $70.
▫️More shoes! I’ve been in love with these Pigalle red bottoms in black and nude forever now and I look forward to one day rocking a pair I can call my very own.
▫️Sephora Favorites! Sephora always has amazing gift set ideas and 1 2 3 that caught my eye are Bottled Dreams Fragrance Sampler For Her, Give Me Some Lip and Give Me Some More Lip. It’s a great way to discover new fragrances and lippies and I’m all about that.
▫️Michael Kors! MK came out with a new Sexy Rio de Janeiro Eau de Parfum and I’m in love with its soft, feminine, exotic yet everyday scent. It would be a perfect addition to my collection.
▫More MK! I am due for a new wallet and I’m loving the simplicity and sleekness of this jet set travel continental wallet.
▫️Wool Coat! I’ve been on the search for the perfect camel wool coat for a few years now but this Zara belted wool coat in mink made me lose sight of the ‘camel-colour-must’. It’s absolutely stunning!
▫️Clutches! Cortnie Elizabeth, designer of Love, Cortnie handbags has created some amazing clutches and tote bags. I’m particularly loving this Ashleigh statement clutch, the RiRi II statement clutch and the Calico calf hair statement clutch.
▫️Click Clash Flash! I know a good camera is a must-have so why not go for one that is sure to take the most beautifully vibrant photos like this Canon.
▫️Last but not least, wine! I’m a moscato lover so when I heard that Christina Milian (along with her momager & publicist) created Viva Diva Moscato Wines in different flavours, I knew I had to add that to my list…with so many options to choose from like strawberry, mango and pineapple & coconut, you just can’t go wrong.

These are the items that made it to my FWL. What’s on your list this year?

Happy Monday!

I thought I’d share some of my fave things with you…

Here are this month’s edition of my 👍”likes”:
1. Shoes, shoes and more shoes! (A woman can never have too many pairs of shoes…Red bottoms please!)
2. Pastries, chocolate and anything sweet! (All of that minus the belly aftermath)
3. Lipgloss (I must have at least one in every room, bag…just everywhere!)
4. Smoothies (it’s the perfect way to start my day)
5. John Legend’s “All of Me” (🎶singing as I write🎶)
6. Anything or anyone that makes me laugh (ecards, memes, vines, my boo)
7. Ladies night! It’s always the best night. There’s just something about spending quality time with my ladies…

What’s on your “like” list?

Happy Wednesday!

Foodie Love: Cocoa 70!

If you are ever in the downtown Montreal-Quebec area, a great “foodie” place to check out is Cacao 70. This resto is definitely one of my go-to’s for satisfying my sweet cravings (which is ALL the time…LOL).

Cocoa 70 is a breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, dessert, and chocolate bar with two locations at 2087 Ste. Catherine West or 1310 Ste. Catherine East, Montreal, Quebec.

I’m so thankful to my Rey for introducing me to this hot spot.

November: 5 things to try before the end of this month!

November is not over yet!!! You still have 2 more days to add these to your To-Do list:

1 – Check out The Best Man Holiday movie (premiered November 15th in theatres near you…hopefully!)

20131111-112407.jpg

20131111-112420.jpg

2 – Shop in-store or online for Black Friday sales (TODAY!)
It’s the perfect time to start your Christmas shopping (if you haven’t already).

20131129-163804.jpg
We all love a great sale! 🙋

3 – Donate to Movember – Let’s support the men who are committed to grow a moustache for the entire month of November to raise funds and awareness for men’s health.

My friend Andrew Lockett is making a difference. You can do the same by donating online here!

4 – Check out The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!
I must admit, I was hooked after the 1st one. I’m excited to see this movie myself.

20131129-131709.jpg

20131129-131717.jpg

5 – Try one of your favorite holiday drinks from Starbucks!
Do you prefer the Gingerbread Latte, the Caramel Brûlée Latte or the Peppermint Mocha?
I plan to start a new tradition and try a different one every year.

This year, I will try the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (thanks to my colleague Meg for the tip). 👍

Enjoy the rest of November!
