Last night, CBS hosted the Victoria Secret’s 2015 Fashion Show where angels such as Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge and Lais Ribeiro graced the runway in some fiery, colourful and sexy lingerie.
I’m still hopeful that one day, average size women will have the opportunity to strut this prestigious runway. No shade to any of these beautiful VS models but I’m sure Toccara Jones and Kristen Madison could also make VS look amazing. #justsaying
This annual event held in New York included performances by Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd.

Last weekend, I was graciously invited to attend the very first edition of Natural Hair Congress Canada (NHCC) in Montreal presented by Inhairitance Inc. and boyyyy was I glad to be there. This was quite the event and if you weren’t there, you definitely missed out so make sure to mark your calendar now for next year. There were some great speakers such as Audrey Davis-Savisothy, Nerissa Irving and Stacey McKenzie, for which I had the opportunity to interview (coming soon) and sooo many other wonderful people, talented artists, designers and entrepreneurs. Here’s a recap of NHCC.
The fabulous international top fashion model, runway coach & judge on Canada’s Next Top Model, Stacey McKenzie
Panel discussion featuring Stacey McKenzie (International Supermodel, initiator of Walk This Way Workshop), Marième Ndiaye (singer, Inhairitance spokesperson), Mona Lisa Prosper (lawyer) and Maya Johnson (journalist, CTV anchor) and Hair Show
Canada Wide Natural Hair Competition featuring Salon de Beauté Vision D.C., Hair by Glenna and Curly Hair Designs (Winner of the very first Canadian Natural Hair Award…Congratulations Paula!! Yay Ottawa!)
Inhairitance Hair Show
My fave hairstyle was rocked by model Shany (love her!).

Mark your calendars everyone…Africa Fashion Week is coming to Montreal for the very first time this year! You may want to clear your schedules for this, particularly Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th as of 7pm when this event will take place at Théâtre Paradoxe on 5959 Monk Blvd, Montreal. Africa Fashion Week Montreal (AFWMTL) will certainly prove to be an event you won’t want to miss.
This unique yet flamboyant annual event aims to celebrate African and Caribbean culture through exceptional talents of designers and architects who will be showcasing their creative looks. The fashion industry is so ready for this new era of colourful patterns, prints and African fabrics and it has been for the past few years. See for yourself…
AFWMTL will be captured on The Nikki Clarke Show in Ontario and will be live on the web. It is presented by a fabulous (leading) team of diverse women who share prowess in fashion, coordination, direction and design. Kama St-Juste leads this project alongside Béatrice Clervoix, Liette Clervoix et Médina Diabagate in an effort to show Montreal as a prenominate city where fashion resides. This event will feature 8 renowned and emerging designers such as Asikere Afana, Tufafi Fashion and Korto Momolu to name a few. Check out some of their fabulous collections…

Who else is excited to witness such amazing talent on a runway? I know I am.
A portion of the profits will go towards the A.C.T.I.O.N Foundation, a non-profit organization (sponsored by the humourist Rachid Badouri) which pilots various social programs, one of which encourages young artists and designers.
Happy Tuesday! ❤️xo
April showers bring May flowers! Oh how I love the month of May. Spring weather is finally here (to stay I hope!). How lovely it is to hear the birds chirping, witness the flowers blooming and feel the breeze flowing. May is also the start of wedding season. Can we say love is in the air?! Let’s not forget to celebrate our strong, beautiful, amazing mothers! Happy May!

Elizabeth Olsen attended the Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere earlier this week in a sophisticated two-toned Galvan t-shirt dress featuring a chic, short-sleeved white silk gazar top and navy crepe skirt. I’m loving the details of this ribbed skirt with the thigh-high slit and flowing train. She kept her accessories to a minimum with a gold Sidney Garber statement necklace that complemented her ensemble very well and wore black ankle-strap open-toe heels. Love the crimson lipstick colour too!
Sarah Jessica Parker made her appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman necklaces of alternating lengths, bracelets and a silver watch. She heeled it off in her eponymous SJP embellished peep-toe heels. Im also loving her metallic polish!

Earlier this week, I had the honour to attend the H&M Conscious Closet VIP Launch Party at Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa, joining Elle Canada for the first look at the 2015 H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection. I had such a memorable time among the city’s fashion icons. Add some cocktails, great music, delicious hors d’oeuvres and amazing fashion to the mix and you’ve got an evening you will never forget! Here are some of my precious moments captured on camera. The models were perfect mannequins on display showcasing items from the 2015 H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection. These must-have “master”pieces will be available at an H&M location near you next Thursday, April 16, 2015. Make sure you check it out! Fashion Features Editor, Lisa Guimond (who is amazing by the way), shared her favourite Spring Picks from culottes to maxi dresses to plunging necklines to zen master to sporty. Rogers TV Host of “Entre nous”, Barbara Laurenstin, Fashion designer, Gwen Madiba along with King Hector, who will be launching his first clothing line/collection “We Are Kings” this Fall, graced us with their presence with such style and elegance (King Hector rocked his own line). Fashion model Herieth Paul looked flawless as usual and was such a joy to meet. Love her! Marc Brigden, photographer extraordinaire, Marc Brigden Photography, captured all of the best moments of the night (so every moment) and I’m happy to call him friend. (All images via Star In Moi)
A BIG thank you to Elle Canada, H&M and Bayshore Shopping Centre for having me and for the fun swag bag (Go pick up the May 2015 issue of Elle Canada magazine. It’s a great one!). A BIG shout out to my new fashion fam. I look forward to seeing you all at future events and a special thanks to Mona and Lisa Guimond. 💋

I had the wonderful opportunity to interview RSVP Events Canada about this upcoming event, inspirations and future projects. Check it out below…
More about this event:
RSVP: This elegant, upscale event will feature 5 to 6 exclusive designers from Ontario. Just to name a few designers lined up, we have Jena & Emilia Fashion, Widlyne Rose and AMM Line Productions.
What inspired you to host such an affair?
RSVP: I* am in the events industry and deal with clients from all sorts of different cultures. Most of these clients want to incorporate culture touches to their events. With no one to really cater to them, it was hard to make this happen. We are constantly digging deep to find local vendors to cater to them. Hence why we decided to create the event to promote and showcase the vendors that I* eventually found out that they actually existed, but did not have the support and recognition.
Why is it important for Canada to host events such as this and for everyone to come out?
RSVP: I* think Canada lacks support in the Culture side of things especially in the Afro/Caribbean area. We have a lot of amazing companies in Ottawa/Ontario and within Canada that are basically unknown. This event will hopefully get them on the map and on the road to success. We urge everyone in the community to come out and support them.
Can you tell me more about RSVP Events Canada, your role and how you got involved?
RSVP: I* Co own RSVP Events. RSVP Events is Ottawa’s top “one of a kind” certified wedding, corporate and specialty event planning firm. We specialize in creating unique and creative events starting with your vision, expectations and style. Like most event planning companies we stand by our professionalism and attention to detail. Our mission is to alleviate as much stress as possible while designing and developing lasting memories and catering to our clients’ needs so that they can actually enjoy the event. I* created this event with my lovely team (a dream team of 10 amazing girls) and we are excited to see it come to life.

March is here (a tad late but hey)!!!…which means Spring is near!!! (Don’t forget to Spring Forward this weekend…YAY to longer brighter days but NAY to losing an hour sleep…lol).
Lots to look forward to this month. For you Divergent fans, the second part of the trilogy, Insurgent, will hit theatres March 20th. Who else is excited to see Tris (Shailene Woodly) and Four (Theo James) on the big screen again?
Lots going on in vogue world with Fashion Week scheduled in a city near you. In Toronto, World MasterCard Fashion Week will showcase some Fall 2015 Canadian Collections the week of March 23-27 at David Pecaut Square featuring designers such as Kania (Stacey Bafi Yeboa is one of my faves and she is an amazing woman too), Tatsuaki, Mackage and Rudsak.
Also in fashion, there are many fabulous Spring covers out this month that are certainly worth checking out. One of my favourite actresses, Tracee Ellis Ross covers Essence. Another favourite, Kerry Washington covers In Style and Taraji P. Henson graces the cover of Uptown. Gwen Stefani covers Canada’s No.1 Fashion & Beauty magazine – Fashion and Lupita Nyong’o covers Lucky mag.
I’m looking forward to a month filled with good reads, great fashion and amazing collections.
What are your plans this month?
Happy Friday! ❤️️️️️️️️xo
I’m excited for the month of February because it means we are closer to Spring and the Lord knows I’m allergic to winter (true story) lol. Other things I’m looking forward to this month…
1-NBA All-Star Weekend which will be in New York this year the weekend of Feb 13-15 featuring the All-Star Celebrity game, Rising Star Challenge, Skills Challenge, Slam Dunk Competition and the (East vs. West) NBA All-Star Game.
2-Fifty Shades of Grey which is a film based on the 2011 erotic roman novel by British author E. L. James about the deepening relationship between Christian Grey, a young entrepreneur, and Anastasia Steele, a Literature student and it featuring lots of BDSM.
3-Winterlude is about the only winter event that will make me come out of hibernation mode to enjoy chocolate hazelnut beaver tails and hot cocoa with marshmallows while exploring art made of ice. Let me tell you these ice sculptures are everything. If you’ve never experienced it, make sure to add it to your bucket list. It’s such a magical experience!
4-Valentine’s Day! Only because I love to celebrate love however I do believe that love should be celebrated everyday not just on this uber commercialized day.
5-As always, I look forward to some great fashion magazine covers. Jennifer Aniston covers this month’s InStyle magazine. Jourdan Dunn looks flawless on the cover of Vogue (UK). Rosie Huntington-Whitely models some new Spring trends in Elle (UK) magazine. Taylor Swift shares her style secrets in People Style Watch magazine.
What are you looking forward to this month?
The People’s Choice Awards recognizes and celebrates the people and the work of popular culture, voted on by the fans. The 41st American awards show took place Wednesday (January 7) at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. This year, Anna Faris and Allison Janney hosted the ceremony. The event drew stars from film, music and television. Some slayed the red carpet so here are are a few of my fave looks.
Gabrielle Union rocked a fuchsia frock by Honor.
Sarah Hyland shined bright in a Christian Siriano crystal and brocade illusion dress.
Ariel Winter charmed in a Smythe dress and Aldo heels.
Rita Volk donned Aiisha Ramadan design.
