We are one day away from the fashion event of the year, the second edition of Africa Fashion Week Montreal (AFWMTL)!
AFWMTL is not only a fashion show where designers showcase their artwork and designs, it is a place to express positive energy and to explore the many realms of fashion.
What more can you expect?
A few come back designers such as Eldior Sodeck from New York as well as newcomers such as ‘We are Kings’ collection by King Hector Jr., will be among the talent of AFWMTL. There will also be local designers expressing their artistry and fierce models strutting that catwalk. It will be quite an intimate atmosphere throughout the entire art gallery.
You do not want to miss the biggest Afro Fusion event happening this weekend June 17 and 18, 2016 at Galerie MX 333 Viger Street, Old Montreal. Doors are open at 7:30pm and the Runway show begins at 8:00pm. Come and experience it for yourself! Here is recap 1 and recap 2 from last year’s event to satisfy your fashion cravings in the meantime.

Happy Thursday! ❤️xo
I’m baaaaaack! That’s right, I took a 2-month hiatus only to come back with more exciting ‘star-like’ things and I just can’t wait to share with you all of the things that are near and dear to my heart. What better way to start than with…wait for it…FASHION!
As most “magasineuses” know, the highly anticipated designer collaboration Balmain x H&M is launching TODAY (8am local time to be exact). I mean who wouldn’t want to get their hands on an Olivier Rousteing-designed item. See for yourself…
My fellow Canadians can shop this designer collection at Rockland Centre and St. Catherine St. West at Peel St. in Montreal, Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby, Bloor St. West, Toronto Eaton Centre in Toronto and The Pacific Centre in Vancouver. The lucky first 420 people in line will receive a coloured wristband to shop in groups of 30 for 10 mins only so plan your shopping list beforehand (side note: this collection fits slightly smaller). Afterwards, everything will be up for grabs to everyone else.
Will you be shopping Balmain x H&M? What’s your must-have item from this designer collection? Here’s mine! Love love love! (Images via hm.com)
Happy Thursday! Happy shopping!
Earlier this week, I shared Part 1 of Africa Fashion Week Montreal (AFWMTL), an innovative annual event which aims to celebrate African and Caribbean culture by showcasing creative designs of renowned and emerging artists. Without further ado, here is part 2 of last weekend’s event.
Asikere Afana specializes in sensual blends of African-inspired, timeless trends & curated textiles. Made in Ghana with 100% cotton and fair trade.
Cocody Collections specializes in African print fabrics and vibrant colours with a modern minimalist chic and simple yet notorious (in its originality) style.
Elle Sublime represents strong yet delicate, audacious and even eccentric women of all generations who value their femininity, specializing in trendy handmade custom jewelry.
Korto Momolu celebrates the essence of Africa through the use of traditional, luxury fabrics; skins; mixed prints on fashion forward women’s wear and accessories. Her signature designs also appeared on the 5th season of Bravo TV’s hit show, Project Runway; where she was placed 1st runner up. She is definitely a top designer to watch!
Again a HUGE thank you to Kama St-Juste and her leading team Médina Diabagate, Béatrice Clervoix and Liette Clervoix for bringing AFWMTL to Montreal.
I truly hope this entices you to be a part of AFWMTL next year. I know I will be (God willing!).

I was happy to attend the RSVP Presents A Culture Chic Affair this past weekend and I had such a fabulous time meeting some amazingly talented people from artists to fashion designers to makeup artists to entrepreneurs. It was such an enriching experience filled with Afro-Caribbean culture, live entertainment, creative artisans and designers. In fact, there were so many great moments (that I was able to capture on camera), it’s only right that I share them with you. Experience a Culture Chic Affair through my eyes and camera lens. Enjoy!

March is here (a tad late but hey)!!!…which means Spring is near!!! (Don’t forget to Spring Forward this weekend…YAY to longer brighter days but NAY to losing an hour sleep…lol).
Lots to look forward to this month. For you Divergent fans, the second part of the trilogy, Insurgent, will hit theatres March 20th. Who else is excited to see Tris (Shailene Woodly) and Four (Theo James) on the big screen again?
Lots going on in vogue world with Fashion Week scheduled in a city near you. In Toronto, World MasterCard Fashion Week will showcase some Fall 2015 Canadian Collections the week of March 23-27 at David Pecaut Square featuring designers such as Kania (Stacey Bafi Yeboa is one of my faves and she is an amazing woman too), Tatsuaki, Mackage and Rudsak.
Also in fashion, there are many fabulous Spring covers out this month that are certainly worth checking out. One of my favourite actresses, Tracee Ellis Ross covers Essence. Another favourite, Kerry Washington covers In Style and Taraji P. Henson graces the cover of Uptown. Gwen Stefani covers Canada’s No.1 Fashion & Beauty magazine – Fashion and Lupita Nyong’o covers Lucky mag.
I’m looking forward to a month filled with good reads, great fashion and amazing collections.
What are your plans this month?
Happy Friday! ❤️️️️️️️️xo
Elie Saab presented his Haute Couture show earlier this week and the collection was adorned with sequins, crystals, sheer tulle, feathers and ostrich plumes. The Lebanese designer dedicating the collection to his past in Beirut which he called the “golden age”. I’m loving the influence of Beirut in his new lineup as it introduces a certain freshness to his looks and provides the perfect template for new embroideries. See for yourself…Here are some of my favourite looks from the collection. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Lesa Bennett and Jemma Fennings, the duo behind the Olivia Burton London brand, created their own style of watches inspired by vintage styles and catwalk trends. The collection is distinctive as they are all made with obsessive attention to detail. The watches come in many wearable styles such as wonderland, woodland, colour crush, animal motifs, modern vintage and my favourite, big dial (the ‘fab’ watch). They are fun, affordable (ranging from $105 to $200) and full of British style.
I’m definitely adding the big dial watch to my wishlist. Do you have a favourite OB watch style?
