Hello October!

October is here! Yay! Wait…doesn’t that mean colder weather and shorter days?!…😳 (it’s getting dark out really fast now…womp!). Thankfully, there are still some great things to look forward to this month like…

Thanksgiving!!! In Canada, we give thanks in October (the 13th this year). It’s one of my favourite holidays because I get to spend time with my family and partake in a delicious feast (thanks to my momma…she can throw down in the kitchen!) all while being thankful for my blessings. There is nothing better than that. PLUS it’s a long weekend.

CIBC Run for the Cure is also happening Sunday October 5th and I look forward to supporting some friends in their 5k run for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. For more info or to donate, click here.

In entertainment:
If you love dance (like I do) then you may be interested in the So You Think You Can Dance Tour featuring the top 10 finalists of season 11. The dancers will be performing in more than 70 cities across North America starting this month. For tour dates, click here.

The National Women’s Show will take place at the Ernst & Young Centre from October 25-26. This event is the ultimate girl’s day out with exhibitions about fashion & style, beauty & wellness, travel & adventure, home & design, business & career and food & wine. For more info, click here.

Comedian Russell Peters is currently headlining his Almost Famous World Tour. Everyone knows I love a good laugh so I’m looking forward to his show this Saturday.

In film:
1- Addicted featuring Sharon Leal & Boris Kodjoe premieres October 10th. Based on the best-selling novel by Zane, Addicted is about a successful businesswoman, wife and mother of two, Zoe Reynard, who is drawn to temptations that she can’t seem to escape. Her secretive life eventually leads her down a perilous path that she may not survive. I’m excited to see this sexy and provocative thriller.

2- The Ottawa International Film Festival (OIFF) will take place from October 15-19 at Mayfair Theatre. Celebrating its 5th Anniversary this year, OIFF will showcase 25 narrative features, short films and documentaries from all over the world. Click here to see the 2014 film listing.

I’m definitely ready for October, are you? What are some of your ‘bucket list’ items this month?

Happy October!
